Long, skinny and dressed in leather are normally not such great adjectives to describe someone's weapon. However, this is the exception. Although, the leather wrap samurai swords are a relatively new style only coming into fashion during WWII this sword still holds traditional qualities laced with a new edge. Attributes of the Weapon: Blade: The blade of the sword is HQSS 440 stainless steel featuring the hamon along the edge of the blade. The blade is rat tang design. Scabbard: The scabbard of the sword is wooden covered in black leather. The scabbard features a black nylon sage-o and black steel fittings on the end cap as well as the scabbard throat. Guard: The guard of the sword is the traditional outline cut out of a crane spreading its wings. The guard begins with a black steel blade collar and is fastened with another black steel fitting at the handle. Handle: The handle of the sword is wood fitted with two black steel dragons over a white finish. Black leather is wrapped around the handle in the traditional criss-cross pattern. The handle ends in a black steel cap at the pommel of the sword. This sword is thinner than most samurai's on the market allowing a more graceful slash.
