The Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

I am almost embarrassed to admit that I have never read any of these books. They are on my list

So I went into this movie with what I thought was a clean slate, and with a lot of anticipation. It wasn’t what I expected! Let me elaborate.

I was expecting something similar to Lord of the Rings; complex, dark and detailed with an intricate plot and psychological depth. This movie is none of these things! It is a relatively straight-forward epic fantasy tale. It moves forward quickly and there are no side stories. We follow the main characters and never deviate from the main story.

This was a pleasant surprise for me! It was an opportunity for me to just enjoy a movie without analyzing it. This is an example of the lighter side of epic fantasy and complete in its story. There is a fantastic world and the forces of good and evil are at odds with each other. I highly recommend this movie as a great evening of popcorn and escape to a fantastic world.

There are seven books in this series. I have them listed here: Narnia
