Starring: Orlando Bloom - Director: Ridley Scott
The Lord of the Rings has reinvigorted the genre of Epic Fantasy and we
are sure to get a healthy heaping of new Epics over the next couple of
years. This one continues Orlando Blooms career as an actor in the genre
and he does a pretty good job but he is no Charlton Heston or Kirk Douglas.
He just doesnt have the charisma that few are born with.(Liam Neeson
who plays his father in this movie does have that intangible quality and
it shows in this film.)This movie is a little short on story. At times
it just seems to meander and lose its focus. And the love story, which
had a lot of potential, just fizzles out. So if you are looking for a
compelling story with unforgettable characters then this is not the movie
for you. (Braveheart comes along only once every ten years)But if you
are looking for a great adventure set in the middle ages complete with
great battle scenes and some terrific castle seiging then this is definitely
the movie for you. Ridley Scott, true to his name does a bang up job in
showing you the action. He always delivers great directing.
I give it three stars for being a good adventure with lots of great epic
eye candy
